christ illusion was the turning point for the worst, but even that record had a few nasty riffs. pretty much nothing on world painted blood wowed me. title track was ok, but toms boarderline orgasming voice ruined it for the most part.
I actually really love Undisputed and Diabolus. I'm kinda meh on Divine Intervention. All of them were godsends when they came out though. I specifically remember the first time I listened to Bitter Peace and letting out a sigh because other bands of their ilk had largely abandoned their thrash roots entirely by then and I was sick of being disappointed
I liked Christ Illusion a lot more than most. I thought it wasn't bad but a lot of people didn't like it at all. Flesh Storm, Cult, and Jihad are some pretty tasty tunes.
I haven't been able to really get through either of the last 2 albums and maintain interest. CI was the bigger disappointment because it was Lombardo's return
New Slayer song is good. Not their best, but I know they album will kick ass. Slayer is an amazing band. Love em or hate em, you have to respect what they've done. Personally, I agree with Beef. I loved Christ Illusion. Flesh Storm, Jihad, Cult, Consfearacy, Eyes of the Insane, Skeleton Christ all were great tunes. I really liked God Hates Us All as well and World Painted Blood was awesome. People hate because Slayer's music follows a similar formula, but they continue to put out quality music.
My Sabbath comment was more about I think old bands can still make good music. i legitimately like Maiden's (since you mentioned them) newer stuff. A lot. The Final Frontier, Brave New World, Dance of Death, and A Matter of Life and Death all rule imo. Are they as good as their old stuff? Probably not. But as you said, what band is?
The Final Frontier was nothing short of a masterpiece. If that album came out in the 80's, everyone would have been jizzing themselves over it. It was amazing and refreshing. Honestly, Dance of Death is in my top Maiden albums. Seriously, Paschendale, Dance of Death, Rainmaker, Montsegur those tunes were fuckin gems man. Brave New World was an amazing comeback. As for a Matter of Life and Death. Great album. Only problem was some of the songs on it were way longer than they needed to be. I completely agree with ya here, MC.
On the real doe, I thought the Final Frontier was pretty awful. Brave New World was good, A Matter of Life and Death was even better, but the Final Frontier was boring as hell. The most enjoyable part of that album is the retarded alien with a wrench on the cover. That dude's pretty funny.
FUCK u 2 @beeftorpedo and @nolametal , Final Frontier was fuckin amazing album, Brave New World was one of best metal comebacks of all time - and Matter Of Life And Death and Dance Of Death were imo not as good as the otehr 2 but still great albums, nxt cd Maiden should try to go for making shorter songs liek 3 or 4 min. which they havent done since like fuckin Seventh Son or before

You have your opinions, I have mine. I though Frontier was amazing lol and that "alien dude" is an alien version of Eddie. Title track, El Dorado, Coming Home, Mother of Mercy, and When the Wild Wind Blows were epic. The Alchemist is a pretty decent jam track too. Also, @GregTheShowerDemon I doubt they will start doing shorter songs. Every album only has 1 or 2 songs under 4-5 mins. I like their longer shit though.

"jihad" is still a killer track doe
Christ Illusion is ok. Not horrible not great. Only Slayer I dont bump regularly is Undisputed Aggression, and Dioblica
I prefer their last 3 albums over their 90's work.
God hates us all >
