07 was pretty fucking good for a free show. 3 Inches Of Blood at their prime, Nile, Behemoth in their prime, LoG. Ozzy of course. Hatebreed had a fun pit.
Unearth at blue moose might be the best set I've ever seen. Devin would say the same. I've seen log 8 times and it's probably the most fun I've ever had in puts and it kills. The Lincoln show is in my tops shows of all time.
They're basically metalcore meets melodeath meets thrash. It's definitely fun high energy stuff live, and they are all really cool dudes. Lyrics are cheesy as shit tho
I'm not a "fan". Everything up to Ashes was pretty good. Their timing was key. They were the first heavier band to make much headway commercially in the wake of nu-metal. They didn't have the whiney, clean-singing choruses like a lot of their brethren resorted to. They used to be a sweet live band. They're so bloated and past their prime that I haven't given them much thought in more than a decade now though
I kinda think of LoG the same way I think of Gojira: They've never been a really head-turning, GREAT band, but I'm never mad when they get good attention and/or slots on good tours. They're like Testament to Mastodon's Metallica IMO
There is nothing metalcore about Battlecross. They're a melodic thrash band with some Pantera-esque groove influence, and some melodeath influence. Their musicians are incredibly talented. One of the best bass players in metal right now. And they're all really down to earth people.
The only thing "metalcore" about them is their slightly KSE-esque lyric style.

Those 3 bands are all considered what "metalcore" was originally intended to be. They definitely lean closer to the hardcore side tho, obviously.
