Yeah, I know where Federal St is. And yeah, it does look like almost a post-apocalyptic movie. And all the articles are true, no one likes to be on the streets in Camden, even in daytime. I only ever go to one area in Camden.
There's only one good area of Camden, right near the Waterfront. It's got the Susquehanna Bank Center, the aquarium, Campbell's Field, and Rutgers Camden. But even right outside of those, you feel exposed.
can't judge a state by one city though because then every state would suck. beautiful scenery in jersey if you go off the beaten path to less populated areas

Camden waterfront is awesome. The IMAX, the aquarium, battleship navy nj, the amphitheater, minor league baseball field, Rutgers campus. Not event the whole city is ghetto. You're pretty same unless you go to north Camden. Then watch out. I watched the fireworks on New Year's Eve from the battleship nj it was awesome!

you realize every city in the country has at least equally cool things
I've never had a shitty experience in a single state... but I had an hour and a half flight changeover in Charlotte, NC back in January. The airport was loud as fuck.
