I see Satans point about it being oversaturated but I don't agree that it's the "new melodeath". Melodeath isn't coming out of every crevasse like other subgenres like Death Core and metal core.
It's inevitable that genres of metal that have a little more melody are more popular. Most good melodeath was plundered by metalcore and shitty melodeath then invaded by a legion of poseurs. I still dig later Carcass and early In Flames, but most of the shit that happened around '03-'07 was cookie cutter crap that's already mostly forgotten

Philly I'm guessing? I have friends going to the Stone Pony date. Kvelertak is one of the craziest bands I've ever seen live.
