Fred Durst has admitted that Limp Bizkit are "over".
In May of this year, the frontman revealed that they had been working on two projects since signing to Lil Wayne's Cash Money label: a studio album titled 'Stampede Of The Disco Elephants', and a follow-up to their 2005 EP 'The Unquestionable Truth Part 1'.
According to Metal Injection, however, the singer has said that although the band are not splitting up, their popularity has waned as a lot of their former fans "have moved on".
Speaking about the current status of the band, he said: "We don't play back home. We've boycotted America for many years now. I don't know, I just don't wanna go out like that. We did a few radio shows in 2010 for a friend and that was it. We haven't properly toured America since 2006.
"The reason? We just don’t know what's going on in America," he added. "It's all about the new catchy thing and that's always changing. America is driven by record sales. It's the home of corporations. We're just Limp Bizkit, so we don't know how to do anything but Limp Bizkit."
He went on to say: But here's the deal: say in 2000, there were 35 million people who connected to this band. Twelve years later, lots of those people have moved on. We were a moment in time and it's over.
Last December, Limp Bizkit said goodbye to their old record label, Interscope, following poor album sales from their last LP 'Gold Cobra'. In April of this year, meanwhile, it was reported that Durst wanted to axe band members John Otto and DJ Lethal from the group.

What's up with the bullshit lies being spread by the desperadoes?? Amazing culture we spawn. Semi-flattering that some false rumors can get so much attention for LB, but it's not something we look forward to. We've already been there and had that. We have seen and sat on the top of that cold mountain and are glad to be past it in our own valley, just being Limp Bizkit. We have our place in the world and it will always be ours. That's plenty and exactly what we never expected. Now we can be a band that's just having fun doing what we love to do. We're more than grateful to be invited to rock stages all over the world and we will continue to rock until we can't anymore. This moment is one of the most inspiring and exciting times for us as a band. We are inspired and focused. Our hearts are full of passion and excitement every day. There will always be someone trying to bring you down, but those who dig a hole for the next guy will fall in themselves. We have learned how to be friends and band mates who share one vision. We constantly evolve to better ourselves and make each moment together as rewarding and positive possible. This is what we have and this is who we are. Whatever new music, old music, new shows, old shows comes from LB will always be sincere, genuine, true, and real no matter how you or anyone could interpret it differently. I say this today just because I wanted you to know. This spirit is Limp Bizkit. It's way bigger than us. We're simply the messengers. Keep it real y'all. Love, LB
