their instrumental are indeed full of talent, but the big problem is.. it doesnt sound good..it sounds like gay robots buttsechzing in space
I'm assuming you mean his vocals? Or you liking the instrumentals but then not sounding good? Ugh that just confused me. If that's the case I'd disagree because songs like YYZ or The Working Man are just killer tunes.
i think the vocals are atrocious, i think the lyrics are usually pretty laughable, and i think while the people playing the instruments have alot of musical talent i do not like the finish product they come out with most of the time... some rush are not as bad as i make out like limelight but songs like tom sawyer are gay as fuck regardless of how talented they are

To each their own. I may not be their biggest fan, but I respect the hell out of them for being rock legends and possessing a lot of talent. I could say the lead singer is one of the best bassists out there. The drummer is a fucking beast and has the biggest drum set in the world, and the guitarist kicks major ass. I wouldn't mind seeing them. But then again, not their biggest fan, just know a couple of tunes, and I liked what I heard.
they really didnt, if i asked 100 kids at my school who rush is prob me and two other nerds would know who they were.. if i said it now i bet like 75 would know because of that movie
and wtf is behind the lighted stage im talkin about i love you man
Oh. Well you mentioned Rush and a movie so I thought you meant the movie about Rush, Behind the Lighted Stage. And you seriously aren't saying they don't have a huge fanbase because a lot of kids don't know about them. A lot of kids don't know about Pink Floyd or Black Sabbath, does that mean a lot of people don't know who those bands are?
im just telling you where im from and when i was in high school I love you man hadnt came out yet and no one was saying dick about rush and i know for a fact unless you were in all the music classes with me you didnt know dick about rush... at my school pink floyd was highly popular because we were a big hippie stoner school.. and people would know more about black sabbath then rush but like you said knowledge on them would pron be limited to "thats ozzys band" or " iron man guys".. this was pre guitar hero
im jussayin if you asked 100 kids in 2005, name one rush song i bet three kids could come up with one... now i hear people babbling about them all the time... keep in my mind im fully aware of the older genration of rush fans and understand they had a pretty solid following back in there hayday but they would and should be all washed up and not not talked about anymore... the same goes for shitty styx and journey and bon jovi and def leopard etc
Okay, I can agree there is probably more youth today aware of Rush than in 2005 soley because ILYM. But that doesn't mean they've really spiked all that much in popularity. Most of these kids who love the movie probably din't look up Rush afterwards or anyhting. The matter of fact is Rush is the most popular progressive rock band that is still around and possibly of all time. Whether or not high-schoolers know who they are is kind of irrelevant. They've always been a popular name amongst music lovers.
So because they've lasted and had a long career and have proved to stay relevant in todays music scene means they're washed up and should be gone? That makes sense. 8-}
theyre not relevant tho, if REO speedwagon was talked about for an entire movie that everyone loved they would be in rush's place instead.. new rush albums would be talked about as much as say pearl jams new album, the movement is over and the only ones who would buy it would be the die hard oldies... and if you dont think that movie tremendously resparked their career you are grossly underestimating
<_____> first off, who gives a fuck about what musicians high schoolers know? todays youth is pathetic (for the most part) and yes they are relevant, they just had a two-year incredibly successful tour, and will be touring this fall in support of their 20th, also very successful (debuted at number 2) new album. yes i love you man helped, and yes i wasnt that aware of rushs music untill about 2-3 years ago, but that doesnt mean people dont know them <_>
Not really. Snakes and Arrows debut at number 3 in the charts and that was out two years before I Love You Man. They were on the Colbert Report in '08. They've always had a huge fan base and stayed pretty relevant in the rock scene. ILYM didn't have much an affect on Rush from what I saw. Everybody at my school would always comment on the fact that I play bass by saying "SLAP A DA BASS!" and shit but the only people that ever commented on my Rush shirt were my friends who knew of them prior to that movie.
i know people know them NOW, but people under the age of 25 did not know them like 8 years ago, why the giant resurgance in their career and tour? theyre amazing new albums??
lets ask the people on here how many songs they can name from rush from anything off their new albums except for the big rush fans on here like slap and jay, no one could come up with dick.. i know i couldnt
basically if your a rush fan fine, like your nerd music i dont care all im saying is im just sick of there second wind of fame and just want them to go back to an oldies band that isnt talked about anymore like bachman turner overdrive or grand funk railroad
