That's crazy about the deer...... I've never even seen one in person, I can't even imagine what it must be like to have to avoid them while driving....
The last ones I hit were crossing the road in a single file across both shoulders of the road and all the lanes, noses to buttholes. I tried to go in between them but just ended up picking up the 7-10 split.
Your best bet is to just keep driving and hit them. People can lose control swerving or braking too hard (I still do it, you just have to be careful) The only real danger is if they fly up into the windshield, or get impacted into an oncoming vehicle. As long as you radiator doesn't get punctured and you have headlights, you can usually drive away from it, although it will do a few grand in damage.
I've also had 2 different occasions where I have almost hit a black bear with my car. I don't wanna know what the results of that accident would be, especially if the car dies and the bear doesn't.
If I make it to brewski fest, Bard will be casting foot molds and hiding in the trees with a telephoto lens, trying to capture photos that prove my existence like a guy trying to find proof of Bigfoot.
