yeah, but mayhem has always sucked doe. at least ozzfest got 3 good years outta the way before it went gay
I thought Ozzfest was great pretty much all the way through. It had a much different vibe than Mayhem. Maybe it was the venue that I went to because Ozzfest would always go to Alpine Valley so I would go the extra 2 hours to go there and make it more of an event and Mayhem doesn't go to Alpine Valley. But every Ozzfest for me was an awesome time and one of the highlights of the year.
The Mayhems that I've been too have all been fun, but couldn't hold a candle to the Ozzfests. And for sure the headliners at Mayhem for the most part have left much to be desired.
I can't stand Disturbed, Godsmack and Korn now and Manson and Zombie haven't put out anything worthwhile in 10 - 15 years. The cool thing about Ozzfest though, was that they had all of those bands in their primes, even if you hate those bands, the time to see them was in the late 90's or early 2000's. There was actually something cooler about all of those bands back then and they've pretty much all gone to shit now, but yet Mayhem just keeps recycling them and rollin them back out there as the main stage headliners.
Most of the time the Disturbed, Godsmacks, etc were never expected to be headliners at Ozzfest either, they always had much bigger, better and cooler headliners like Sabbath, Ozzy, Pantera, Slayer, Tool, Maiden, Priest, and SOAD to make thing seem to have a more Metal feel to it.
