You guys care too much about Mayhem. There will be multiple repeats per year, and it'll only get worse. With the space they have to fill that AREN'T repeats, they're going to put in bands that draw big crowds, sub-genres aside. Tough guys will still come for Hatebreed and Lamb of God, the masses of scenecore kids will come for Motionless. It's simple marketing. Like they give a fuck about "selling out." It's a United States touring "metal" festival in 2013. Did you expect anything different?
And I feel like a lot of the disappointment here stems from the lack of progressive music they put on the bill. If that's a major part of your disappointment, you deserve it for expecting Porcupine Tree or Cynic on it in the first place.
We went to indy because hatebreed was on that date. 2 hour drive on a saturday is not a big deal. Anyway it was supposed to be hatebreed and machine head back to back on the side stages and in flames opening main. In flames dropped off and it moved machine head to main. The venue put the side stages in a goofy spot to where you had to navigate a corridor of vendors and all kinds of shit. Machine head started immediately on main when hatebreed finished. There were too many people trying to move and it bottlenecked at the corridor. I got there for the last machine head song. I hate disturbed and godsmack so I left right after megadeth. And the side stage was all gravel.
Just ruined the day.
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!
Kevin Lyman just confirmed rob zombie for next year. Didn't give many details, but says they are revamping the tour a bit, with a greater focus on weekend shows, and says it'll definitely be dark and heavy. Says if you like metal it'll be a heavy show. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything else
