That's an entirely seperate point than the statement that was quoted tho.. Even if that's the case the highlighted statement still stands.. And yea I can possibly agree to that but idk if I'd even call tool a metal band.. Obv the non metal community would overwhelmingly select tool
Yeah, I quoted that to reference what I was disagreeing. I'd say the same thing with a more general rock/metal audience too, not strictly a metal audience.
Based on their music it's obvious. Tool have the whole rhythmic thing down but nothing they've written shows they're capable of technical riffs. Just listen to fucking Blood Mountain. Songs like Capillarian Crest are absolutely nuts and they're doing a lot of the challenging thing tool is doing like constant meter changes while shredding out crazy riffs. I'm not saying that makes them a better band, but I'd put money on Mastodon having more technical ability than Tool as a whole unit. The only one who can compete is Danny
