i don't really even hate those albums, i just think they were both a letdown from the magnificence of 'aenima'
all in all, this forum has really grown up since i've been here. it used to be a lot of "shitknot this, devildriver that". now you're a square if you don't gush over pallbearer and deafheaven. you and todd with this tool/log stuff...you're really bringing down the rest of us man. it's time to branch out
I don't mean hits as in like radio hits.. I mean songs that will stand the tests of time.. Mastodon are prob at least top three metal bands going but tool was really something special..also tool live blows mastodon away... And I really enjoyed mastodon live too
C'mon now look mastodon is a tight little metal band I one hundred percent support them but they just simply cannot match the creativity, ingenuity, and just sheer talent that tool brings.. Tools songs just stand on there own so much more easily it's really easy to notice

Yeah, I definitely disagree here. I believe if you ask metal listeners of the next three generations who they like more, you will overwhelmingly get Mastodon more than Tool.
That's an entirely seperate point than the statement that was quoted tho.. Even if that's the case the highlighted statement still stands.. And yea I can possibly agree to that but idk if I'd even call tool a metal band.. Obv the non metal community would overwhelmingly select tool
