The headliners in 2011 were bad, but there were some great side acts. Red Fang, Kingdom of Sorrow, Unearth, not to mention the Bay Area got Testament. Plus Megadave wasn't bad in 2011.
red fang are meh and i just plain don't like unearth or kos
Yes because ticket sales have a positive correlation with quality music 8-|
for one fest year by year, yes... We're not talking about pop fest vs mayhem fest, we're talking about mayhem fest year by year. last year the fucking pit sold out so quick i had to end up going to virginia, this year theyre giving out $66 pit tickets.... thats insane.
i just dont understand the argument at all here. the lineup sucks bad this year. the only 2 decent bands on the bill are opening the main stage. hahah that sucks.
that happens a lot with the package tours. it's not who the most worthy, crowd-pleasing bands are, it's which label wants to shove their bands down peoples throats the most

im upset cause i want to go and see cool bands, not the same washed up radio crap they got on the fest this year... i got a pit ticket last years for the first time since ozzfest 2004 it was like $90 a ticket in bristow. and i dont even remember what the fees were. i prolly wouldnt even go to this if i got a free one. its just not worth it. machine head rules if they headline a small club jawn and play for like 2+hrs... mastodon and AA would be cool but not from the lawn. the lineup is just beat. that is all.
red fang sucks. noone would ever listen/heard/ or even talk about them if they werent on mayhem. theres 50 bands better in that genre than red fang.
First, I was listening to em before I heard they were on Mayhem.
Second, you say that like its a bad thing. Isnt that a part of the point of these kinds of festivals? To expose up and coming bands to a large audience?
Tru that I def hear you to an extent, but I bet you won't be over at the emo stage seeing if there's a diamond in the ruff. My point is they are way overhype. In my personal opinion because of mayhem Fest.. Same with a lot if bands. , being a fan of stoner bands... They're at the bottom of the barrel.
