Man i wish we knew what their contract for the governors ball looks like. Typically the headliners at GB are contractually obligated to play new music.
I wouldn't think Tool would sign on to such a deal but maybe they threw some serious cash at them.
I wonder if they will drop one new track because of this. Doubtful though as im pretty sure they like to release their new albums as whole pieces of work.
They probably just got some special deal to headline because the festival organizer is a fan.
i guess iv never seen an official source. Thats just what iv heard a lot of people say when it comes to governers ball. Looking at past lineups doe it doesn't appear that way. Well the last 2 sunday headliners did release new music the same year. Its probably just a stupid rumor but iv seen it a ton.
they would probably just play a/descending to cover that anyways.
i didn't even know Jobe was into Tool until i saw he bought vip lol
Tool made their big breakthrough with Undertow while I was still in high school. Everybody scooped up the album after seeing the video for Prison Sex. I thought I was hot shit when I learned a few riffs right after I got the album. I couldn't wait to tell my friend the next day when I saw him in math class. Next day comes and I see Aaron, and before I got a chance to say anything he tells me "yeah I learned how to play Tool last night" I asked him what song. "Whole album" he replied.
-_-
I pretty much gave up the guitar for years after that lol.
Never. Concerts are all so far away from me that they may as well have been on the moon at the time. It took a long time for me to be in a position to travel to them. Once I got my first half decent car it was on though.
First show I drove too I almost didn't have anybody to go with. Bought a ticket to Ozzfest and then none of the rest of my friends did. They kept talking about it but never went through with it. I was still telling everybody "well fuck you guys then, I'm still going" and then the day before I left my friend sold his truck and him and his just-found-out-she-was-pregnant girlfriend jumped in and away we went hoping we could get them tickets at the door. "Don't worry, I got a tent" I told them.
