I need some advice.
So this is been a difficult year for me financially, and close to recovering. Anyways.... We had this giant 10G property tax bill that I had to pay sept, oct, nov. That is basically 3 grand per month extra that I hadnt planed on spinding. Long story short- after paying all our bills we were left with about 1500 dollars for Christmas.
So she tells me she wants to get stuff for all three of the kids teachers, her sister, and then spend like 1300 on the kids. She tells me "we can just skip christmas for us this year"
And my thought on that is I dont think it is fair of her to say I can't buy her a christmas present. So I told her that of the 1500 we have to spend, I am taking 150 of that to spend on her. That I was fine with her not getting me a christmas present, and that it wont hurt my feelings, but that I'm not doing that for her because it would hurt my feelings. I told her it isnt negotiable.
She's telling me that isnt fair, and I told her it was because she said "we can just skip our christmas" and I think that is an okay statement for her to make, except she can't tell me what I want to do for her.

Thoughts?
Yet it's okay for you to tell her what she wants to do for you?

I said that she has the 1300 to spend however she wants to spend it. and if she wants to spend 1300 on the kids, teachers, and her sister then that is fine and it wont hurt my feelings.
really I think everyone should have their normal presents cut back. She likes to give everything she possibly can to the kids, and like CF said that is a shit load of money. They dont need that many presents....
