They are 'meh'. Entertaining, sure, but 'meh'. No complexity. Plots are basic. Typical fan service. Cliche harem archetypes. Etc. Still watched em. I give em 5s, 6s and 7s out of 10s.
I watched The Familiar of Zero, Cat Planet Cuties, So I Can't Play H?, Yumeria, and The Testament of Sister New Devil.
Just watched Do You Remember Love? (Macross movie) for the first time despite Macross being my favorite anime. Movie was so fuckin' good. Its basically just a retelling of the show, with some things changed and set in a movie time frame.
EDIT: and yes, my favorite anime is part romance genre.
