roller coaster death

Did you guys here about the dude that died on a roller coaster over at Darien Lake (close to where I live)? TLDR - iraq war vet who lost his legs in the war went on the ride. It doesnt have shoulder straps and only a waste belt. Needsless to say, without legs, the waste strap didnt do a lot of good and the dude went flying off, hit some bars, and fell to his death. I havent heard what killed him...... crazy shit.

A 208-foot-tall roller coaster in western New York remained closed Sunday amid questions about the falling death of an Iraq war veteran who lost both his legs to a roadside bomb and the decision to allow him on the ride. Sgt. James Thomas Hackemer was ejected Friday from the Ride of Steel coaster at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort near Buffalo. Hackemer's sister, Jody, said her brother had been fitted recently with prosthetic legs but said she did not believe he was wearing the prostheses on the roller coaster.

I've gotta believe that this is probably not the best way to go out.

The fault is his and the ride operator's. The dude should've known better.

Well, I wouldnt blame anyone really. If the belt goes around your waist, in theory whether you have legs or not shouldnt matter right?

I have legs and if I don't feel completely safe on a rollercoaster, I'm not gonna ride it.

Sha-yea... and unless you were standing in line, you didnt know how he died. I've been trying to get the story on it and only stumbled upon the reason for the death last night!

I knew he was ejected from his seat and died...
