Could be the excitement due to them being on MDF. And the only person who I think loves Sleep on this forum who has discovered them recently is Devin. Most everybody else who talks about them frequently, myself, Razor, Alex, Brando, etc, have been on the Sleep game for years.
I got on the stoner metal game back in 2008 or so, after I got really into Mastodon. Got into Mastodon, read they met at a High on Fire show, looked up High on Fire, read Matt Pike was in Sleep, I checked out Sleep and was blown away. I discovered Electric Wizard by making a Sleep station Pandora, and Dopethrone came on.
Im not even trolling. I don't care about sleep either way. Recently there has been a lot of talk about them. I remember a few mentioning them here or there years ago but for the most part no one cared aside from the people that were like listen to holy mountain the first time you smoke. Now its like the rest of the forum has turned into todd with his log/tool obsession with sleep. Thus the flavor of the season for around here.
