Need help from any computer experts out there.

i'm trying to figure out if i can remove windows 7 from a brand new lap top and put windows xp on it. anyone know if this can be done relatively easy. i dont have neither a windows 7 install disc or a windows xp disc but i can pirate windows xp off a torrent site when i get that far. any help would be greatly appreciated

why would you want xp over 7???

make sure you download and install windows XP EDIT: or burn it onto a disc before removing windows 7. i know there is a way to remove an OS but im not entirely sure how to do it.

i work for a heavy equipment dealership, and we just got a new laptop to diagnose problems on site but the program we use to interact with the computer on the piece of equipment only runs on windows xp. and me being the only employee under 30 made me automatically the computer tech guy even if i don't know shit all

You'd have to check the laptop manufacturer's site and see if they have XP drivers.

alex just did this with his laptop but went with 7 instead of vista
when he gets to my house tonight ill have him explain it

i would think if you d/l xp and burn it to a disc and it works it will take 7 off on its own

Laptops are pretty much built around whatever operating system they are on. some hardware may not work with XP, every driver would have to be updated and checked out manually. XP would find some but not all. it would be a pain in the ass.....

it can be done....see the link i posted above. someone asked the same question and got a few different answers. i was looking a tthe posint of view of doing a total format and installing XP from scratch
