Bands that thrived after replacing Vocalists:

    Iron Maiden
    Black Sabbath
    Van Halen
    Ac/Dc
    Pink Floyd
    ahh fukk it
Anthrax, Alice In Chains.....hell, Corey wasn't Slipknot's original vocalist.

i see what u mean, but im just saying that its easier to replicate a sound on guitar than a voice. theyre known for coreys voice, not their guitar playing, you know what i mean?
but i do agree that the sound would change either way
Vocals are generally a defining thing for music. It's the first thing you hear when you listen to a song
    #-O
First thing most hear in a song
    Statement still isn't accurate....
Well I meant first thing most hear in a song. I'm multi-tasking ~_>
i think you mean its what most people pay most attention to initially... technically if guitar or drums are playing first, thats the first thing heard

what he meant was Difinatively... vocals define a band and he's right but Van Halen lost Dave fans for Sammy fans and so on then Van Hager became difinative agian.... its a matter of getting a kix ass vocalist to fill the shoes

that i definitely agree with, i just mean guitars in a band like slipknot. definitely not an eddie...
but yeah many bands have changed singers/guitarists and been fine, so it just depends on the band. but to the person up top i dont think maiden thrived without dickinson....they just thrived before he left and when he came back.
and even if these bands are still successful, sometimes its just not the same..

I would rather Corey stay as singer, but if they had a new one, he would need to be able to perform old songs well.

Also, a little late, but Paul actually wrote Vermillion and Gehenna.

Also, just because a band continues with a new singer does NOT necessarily mean they're good as they used to be.
    Look at Drowning Pool.

Drowning Pool was never all that great really....they never got a chance to get off the ground with Dave.

Drowning Pool was great when I saw them.
Granted, the Dave songs were fun live, but just weren't the same.

The new stuff was actually better live then the old stuff, if you can believe that...

They were opening for Buckcherry, and the show was $10.

    Quite a deal, I'd say.

McCombs is a great singer, but he'll never match up to what Williams was.

Not to mention that Williams doesn't even sound that good live, even on his own songs.
