pretty sure RATM didnt play that stop. I know for sure we have DEVO (which were awesome), and I dont remember who else... At the time the Metallica/Soundgarden were the ticket. Ramones, Rancid, Shaolin monks, Screaming Trees were also awesome.
People not knowing what stoner rock and metal are makes me sad.
Just seems like a fake or made up genre to me. Perhaps I am naive but it just seems bands that people might call stoner rock could easily fit within another already established genre. Pretty soon people will be trying to split stooner music between "water bong stoner music" and "joint rolling stoner music". No thanks.
Stoner rock/metal to me is more easy to get when you understand the sound. The fact that it's a hit among potheads is beside the point to me. That was a huge thing with the bands that started it, and most of the bands that carry it on today, but I really just enjoy the sound. Sure, i used to spark up to it a lot, but it's never been OMG I CAN ONLY LISTEN TO THIS STONED.

Red Rocks is the only venue in the USA that I'd like to see a show at; It looks amazing. Now since I havent seen a show there, I can't be for sure on what I'm about to say- But I've always thought The Gorge > Red Rocks simply because it doesnt look like there is any room for a pit at Red Rocks. I've been in some crazy brutal pits at the gorge. Pits so large that I've never seen anything like it because it wouldnt fit in an arena. And they never rope off the pits either so it's this mad free for all for people to pile and and flip the fuck out.
