its pretty simple....ask Aelx Skolnick would you rather A: someone never even listening to any music you ever worked so hard on because theyre not gonna spend 20 bucks on a cd to give you a try or B: Love your band, where testament shirts, see you in concert, and just plain love your music cuz they downloaded it and really liked it
I think thats the thing artists dont realize. Without the internet and file sharing, a lot of the less popular obsure metal bands wouldnt even have a career because no one would have their albums otherwise.
and after people download the albums of these bands, they're more likely to buy the albums later at a record store too, cuz they already know they like them.
I agree with both of these but I'm still going to buy albums. I like having an actual hard copy of the album and I like supporting the artist through CD's so they eventually pay off the royalties on it
bands i REALLY like i buy the discography... other than that i buy what i can.

It depends on when I get into the band though. Sometimes, like with Death Angel, I get into them and then the next year, they're releasing a new album so I pick that up but i don't have enough money to get the other albums atm
