Nirvana was one of the best concerts I ever saw. If I remember correctly, Butthole Surfers and Chokebore opened and were both almost boo'd off the stage. I bought my 10 dollars ticket at the door an hour before the show... Nirvana was so large back in 1994, and their stage presence was just amazing. What really made the show though was the energy in the crowd. It is difficult to really describe it with words.... but it's like when they played lithium the whole crowd was jumping up and down as high as you could during "I'm so happy, Cause today I found my friends...." and when he got to the "Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah" screaming like everyone was jumping at least a foot higher. It was just so crazy... The concert was amazing. One I am glad I didnt miss. I'd probably say this concert is #4 or #5 on the greatest shows I ever saw. (no thanks to Chokebore)
trying to think of a good thing to say about Kurt, instead of being an asshole, so here it is. thank you Kurt for forming Nirvana for giving Dave Grohl the opening he needed to leave Nirvana and start writing good music

funny. I don't think Foofighters is even close to being as good as Nirvana was. Nirvana had something that the foofighters will never have - personality.
I remember watching an interview with Grohl and he said something like "it is easy to make a hit song. chorus, chorus, bridge, chorus". After I saw that it confirmed my believe that Grohl is a total douche.

Kurt's mumbling vocals and terrible songwriting is NOT better than the Foo fighters, Probot, or any other of Dave's projects
I think Kurt has a legendary voice and a lot of charisma. I agree the songwriting in Nirvana for the most part sucked. But I don't think the songwriting of Dave was much better. Music wise, yes a little better. Lyrical wise? They are both pretty awful.
Foo Fighters have a bunch of great songs that are not hits....they'll never leave behind the legacy Nirvana made, but that doesn't mean they're a bad band at all.

I'm not sure they'll ever have the same musical impact as Nirvana, however their legacy could turn out to be just as storied.
Dave Grohl has crawled out of Cobain's shadow so much by now that most people don't even know he was in Nirvana. Or at least it seems that way.
