    'se7en' hacks, ftl
    Although Se7en is a great movie, it clearly is not horror. I get the comparison you are making in that the killer in se7en was trying to show people were wrong, and so was the killer in saw... however se7en was more psychological where saw was straight up horror. I dont think they ripped off se7en at all. IMHO

    it's not just the theft of plot device, but the overall tone and color scheme...even down to the music. 'se7en' famously starts with a 'closer' edit, so the 'saw' guys went and got a reznor lackey, charlie clouser, to handle the score. total hackwork.

    disagree.... but by your same logic you could say every horror film is a rip off of Thirteen Women. Horror in general has very few plot deviance... In a genre of movies that has so much recycled material, I am surprised that you would be calling Saw out on this.

    I am not saying that Saw did steal Se7en's plot, but assuming it did, so what? It took a thriller idea and made a great horror film out of it.... A horror film that was very different then any other horror film made. So what if it had similar concepts as a thriller... totally different movie and genre.

    Se7en is a crime drama, not a horror film.
