nah, it was the first of the abduction torture films in america. it was more of a drama then a horror film, but it was interesting in the fact it showed how shit can go down. it it was based loosely on true events. that shits scary. another one is wolf creek is a good one...
wolf creek was very similar to hostel, about people in a foreign counrty who get abducted and tourtered. I liked them both the same. in fact, someone should add wolfcreek to the list.

Although Se7en is a great movie, it clearly is not horror. I get the comparison you are making in that the killer in se7en was trying to show people were wrong, and so was the killer in saw... however se7en was more psychological where saw was straight up horror. I dont think they ripped off se7en at all. IMHO
