When I dated my ex-bitch, I always chose her over Kurt, stopped hanging with him, never called him, never talked to him, and when he did come over, I would be a tool and only chill with her, go upstairs and fuck her, forget about him, etc. We became distant and weren't even best friends anymore.

cancelling insignificant plans in my opinion isnt breaking guy code, but if you had some serious plans like a football game or a show and cancelled just to hang out with a girl, i would think that was fucked up, it just depends on how much you like the girl i guess.
