I've had Kvelertak so damn long it's hard to count it this years even though it did come out over here this year. Pretty sure it was on the top of my list last year.

gotta say.....i was a tad bit disappointed by the new SLEEPMAKESWAVES.
Not in general, really.... but in the context of their entire catalog. It just seems half-assed = a more direct musical approach.
It's a good album; which i had incredibly high hopes for.... maybe too high, and that's why i ended up disappointed with it
You're ridiculous. It did away with a lot of the mindless ambient bits from the EP and made a very focused effort. That album is an enormous achievement.

One of my definite top albums this year. Mix of relentless black metal and post-rock, it works great.
Roads to Judah is brilliant. If you ever get an opportunity to see them live, including the upcoming tour with Russian Circles, please do, they're awesome live.

I know, I just saw that they were touring with RC, who are also awesome. But the closest they're coming to RI is New York, so I don't think I'll make it. But Roads to Judah is so fresh, I've been looking for something like that for a long time.
