Brad is insane thinking this is Mastodon's Black Album.
    .................he said what?

The Hunter at number two makes me feel good about it. I look forward to listening to it on tuesday.
Curl of the Burl and Black Tongue are definitely not representative of the entire album. Some of their best material is on this album. I freaking love it. Brad is insane thinking this is Mastodon's Black Album.

It confirmed to me though that only Dwellings will beat sleepmakeswaves.
    Good to hear.

    What about new Vektor?

    Uhm:
Remission=Kill 'em All: rawest and heaviest
Leviathan=RTL: Most complete and most aggressive
Blood Mountain=Master of Puppets: uh oh, gettin' proggy!
    CTS=AJFA: PROG AS FUCK
Hunter=Black Album: hey can I get a hit single in this bitch?
A friend of mine observed that Mastodon is following Metallica's career trajectory album by album. I concurred, but said that progged-out Metallica is best Metallica and it kind of neutered Mastodon.

So yeah....this is totally the Black Album. A better Black Album, but a Black Album nonetheless.
This is one of the most ludicrous things I've seen all year. He's just a disgruntled Mastodon fan who they fell out of favor with as time went. He's just pretending it's their fault and not his.

    SMW is that good.

Yeah, I don't agree with that at all. Just because Curl of the Burl is probably the most accessible song they've written doesn't make this their sell-out album.

I will update my list next week, but The Hunter will place high. Very very high.

I'm listening to the Sparrow now and this has to be one of my favorite Mastodon songs. Riffs + Solo + Structure is all droolworthy, and it's heavy as shit at times. Brann's fills are godlike the whole way through.

EDIT: On spin 5, and Stargasm is also a top 10 song from 2011.

Neuraxis could probably move up if I gave it another listen. BDM, I stand by.

And had I not heard The Blackening, I MH would be higher. The same reason applies for why The Powerless Rise wasn't high up on last year's.

    Don't worry bout it son.

Actually I haven't listened to a full album in forever cause I worked so friggin much in the summer and now I figured it's not even worth updating cause I've missed so much and don't feel like getting around to it again.

So I finished The Hunter just now. I'm faded as fuck and figured I'd listen to it. And even high...meh. Cool album, but it's just kinda strung together and flows with no memorable parts. However, Spectrelight is still probably the best Metal song I've heard this year, and Bedazzled Fingernails caught my attention. Has a dope ass Jazzy Cynic feel to it. 6/10.

Take Mastodon's balls out of your mouth for a minute and speak clearly, Jay.
