Peter Forsberg to announce retirement(that was quick)
DENVER -- Colorado Avalanche forward Peter Forsberg is retiring from the NHL after playing in just two games during his latest comeback.
A chronic foot ailment cut short Forsberg's career. He made a brief return in 2008 and didn't play in the NHL again until this month. After a visa delay, he took the ice in just two games, scoring no points, before deciding to call it a career.
The former league MVP will hold a news conference Monday afternoon before the team's game against the Calgary Flames.
Just one week ago, Forsberg signed a $1 million deal to play the rest of the season for the team he helped lead to two Stanley Cup titles.
Forsberg was arguably the best two-way player in the NHL during his heyday, leading the Avalanche to Stanley Cup titles in 1996 and 2001, and earning both the Hart Trophy and league MVP in 2003.
He started having problems with his right foot over the next few years and ended up going back to his native Sweden after appearing in nine regular-season games and seven postseason games in 2007-08. Forsberg played for his hometown club MoDo the past couple of years and his foot held up enough that he decided to give the NHL another shot.
After his immigration issues were cleared up, Forsberg played in games at Nashville and Columbus, both losses. Monday was supposed to mark his home debut.
you have no idea the frustrations of a bruins fan. We had to trade Bourque to the Avs just to get his name on the cup. Ownership gets the team good enough to maybe make it a few rounds in the playoffs, but never to win the cup
Sorry John. But you have no idea how much frustration an Islander fan goes through everyday. The best moment this team has had since 2002 was the 9-3 win over the Pens Friday night. I'm only 18 years old. Lifelong Islanders fan. They've only made the playoffs 4 times in my life. Each one of those times was a first round exit. Don't get me started on frustration over a hockey team. Nothing compares to being an Islander fan. Nothing.

What about a Cubs fan? Not that I am one, actually I hate them, being a Sox fan. But that has to be worse than anything

That's true. Hence why I said "frustration over a hockey team" but that is still very true lol
Bruins are an original 6 team. All the other original 6 teams have no problem earning cups...
The Rangers do. Not sure how many the Bruins have, but the Rangers only have 4, and it took 54 years to win the 4th one after the 3rd one.
i am never gonna forget when the Rangers ended their streak. even though i am a Bostonian and am suppose to hate New York, i was pulling for them. Still have memories of Messier going around the ice hoisting the cup.
Also happy that the Blackhawks ended their drought last year.....Bruins should be soon....
Oh how I wish we could play Game 6 and 7 in 2009 over again. X(
seeing crosby raise the cup after missing the last half of game 7, was the worst thing i've ever seen in hockey... i've never rooted for a team other then a philly team harder then i was rooting for the redwings in the final minutes of that game. WTF happened? how could you let crysbytch raise the cup??? X(
Well, let's see....in Game 6, Cleary got stoned on a breakaway that would have tied it, then Scuderi made the play of his life and stopped Franzen in the crease in the closing seconds, and then in Game 7 we turned the puck over twice and they scored on both, and we hit the crossbar and Fleury played out of his mind.......bleh.
