Not sure if sarcasm but they did well to move Mrazek because they aren't re-signing him. After the way they handled him last summer I don't doubt both sides were going to move on. They should be trading Mike Green and any bad contracts they can.
They were a playoff team two years ago and he was brilliant up until February that season, at that point he looked like a piece to build around, not sell. After that his value tanked to the point Vegas didn't want him. If he wins 3 more games with the Flyers the Wings get a 3rd round pick this year at minimum, that's not bad at all and certainly better than losing him for nothing.
"Mrazek's decline started in mid-February of the previous season. He was dominant during a six-week stretch, going 10-2-2, with a 1.28 GAA, .949 save percentage and three shutouts. He briefly led the league in GAA and save percentage.
But, since Feb. 14, 2016, his 24th birthday, Mrazek has a 3.13 GAA, .898 save percentage and one shutout in 66 appearances during the regular season.
....
After losing the starting job late in the 2015-16 season, Mrazek provided some hope by taking over for Howard in Game 3 of the playoffs against Tampa Bay and giving the team a chance to win, with a 1.35 GAA, .945 save percentage and one shutout in three starts."
His decline didn't start until right before the trade deadline in 2016, when they were a playoff team. You don't trade him then because all goalies go into a funk. He played well in the playoffs and was expected to be their #1 goalie again the next season. Obviously he would have gotten more then but you don't trade a young goalie who you believe can be a star. Saying they should have dealt him then is completely based on hindsight and unfair. But yeah, I'm delusional.
They didn't dump Green, which was a bummer. Should have moved him. Nice return for Tatar though and we can use his cap space to sign Mantha/Larkin/AA this summer.

This was in an article from last summer: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2017/06/red_wings_left_petr_mrazek_unp.html
