You can't fucking tell me where I live and don't live. I live not even 10 minutes from the bdubbs by Meijer because I travel that way every fucking week.
Also, that wasn't a prank phone call. I'm fucking serious, I want to know who purchased that ticket for me from Brad.
They have Queens and Suffolk county as options. But the best course would be to just settle it on August 1st in Nassau. I'll mention more about it in an hour. Too busy right now.
lol calm down there. I didn't know there was something like that going on with the Islanders too. I only knew about the Coyotes' issues.
No I'm not mad at you lol. In a perfect world, the coyotes sell well and stay in Phoenix, the Thrashers stay in Atlanta with a good fanbase, and the Islanders get a new arena on Long Island and aren't forced to move to Quebec, Winnepeg or Kansas City. But what I wouldn't mind to see happen is the Coyotes move to Winnepeg, Atlanta moves to Quebec and the Islanders are forced to stay on Long Island.
George- Here is the deal right now as it stands:
Nassau County (where the Islanders play) plans to build a "sports-entertainment complex" at the current Nassau Coliseum site, including a new arena for the Islanders, and a minor league baseball stadium for an Atlantic League team. They would also build a Shinnecock Indian Casino at the Belmont Raceway in Elmont, NY.
It would be $400million total for the Arena/BB stadium and the Casino would be funded by the Indians. $350 million for the Arena and $50 million for the baseball stadium.
It would be funded by the taxpayers initially WITHOUT a tax raise. The taxpayers would pay initially through bonds from the County, and then through revenue sharing between the arena, the stadium, the casino, and money from the Islanders, Shinnecocks, and the Baseball team owners as well, the money would be given back to the county residents. So over the long term they would not pay a single dime.
This is all being put to a vote on August 1st for Nassau County residents. If a majority of the voters say yes, then it get's built. But if they say no, then we are one step closer to losing the New York Islanders.
The reason why I am so mad/upset/nervous is because of the vote. Nassau County is bankrupt. So when citizens hear the words "$400 million arena" and "taxpayer money" they will automatically think "our taxes are being raised. Why should we pay for an arena?" and then vote it down, even though the reality is that they won't be paying anything for it.
And CF, it doesn't matter, I'm still nervous, it's still an elimination game for us lol.
Thank you, Jay >:D<
Come August 2nd I will pretty much know the fate of my team. What makes it even worse is I just feel helpless. I'm not from Nassau so I can't vote. At least if I could vote I'd feel that I did my part to help out.
I just hope that because it is a stand-alone vote on a Monday in August in the heart of travel season for Long Island residents that those who aren't going to vote yes for it won't feel the urge to go out and vote no.

I didn't know there was a B-Dubs there.

It's going to a public vote on August 1st.
Fuck my life.
