DALLAS -- Goaltender Marty Turco's time with the Dallas Stars is over.
General manager Joe Nieuwendyk says the Stars will not re-sign Turco, who just completed his ninth season with the team. Nieuwendyk said Tuesday that he believed it was time to go "in a different direction."
Kari Lehtonen, acquired from Atlanta in February, will go into next season as the team's top goaltender.
The 34-year-old Turco just completed a $22.8 million, four-year contract he signed in January 2006 that kept him from becoming a free agent at the end of that season.
In 509 regular season games for Dallas, Turco won 262 games with a .911 save percentage and 2.31 goals-against average. He appeared in 47 playoff games.

Can someone PLEASE pick something besides a Chicago/Washington final?!??!? I know every sportswriter is in love with that matchup, but there are other teams...
^^ who do you think is gonna be in the finals? imo chi and wash are the best 2 this year. san jose, pitt, and detroit all have a shot, but i think washington and chicago have the best chance if they stay healthy. but anything can happen. i just dont wanna see the pens anywhere near the final this year.
It's a general complaint lol. Barry Melrose has ridden the dicks of those two teams all year, I'm just sick of it. It's probably the most likely matchup....however, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want round 3 of Pittsburgh vs. Detroit in the finals. <_>
lol, i dont mind detroit, but i'm so sick of seeing the pens and crosby. if hes in the finals again, they wont show or talk about any other player but him the entire time, just like the olympics, taht shit gets old. i think detroit has a great chance to get back there, they have been alot better since the olympics, and how the hell do they always find good goaltenders out of nowhere? i think they would beat san jose, but if they get knocked out before san jose has to face them i think san jose has a chance to make it too. i'm just glad the flyers made it. that game against ny was epic. i dont see them going far at all though unless boosh plays like he did 10 years ago, you never know...
i think san jose could take chicago too, it would be a close series, but i think detroit would beat san jose. it,s gonna be one of those 3 out of the west.
"I think san jose has a better team then chicago, but my avs are gonna stop 'em!"
I disagree about San Jose having the better team.
And yeah, I hate having the Pens go deep because I know exactly how every broadcast would go....Crosby, Crosby, and more Crosby. But I still want to beat them.
