It was outside of the realm of probability. His stock has been rising, sure, but few thought he'd go higher than 10. There was VERY LITTLE conversation about Aldon Smith here. Surprised for sure.

First big surprise of the day....Locker goes ahead of Gabbert.
I'd call Aldon Smith going #7 before Robert Quinn a big surprise. I don't like that pick. Tennessee and Atlanta both made mistakes early, too.
Who do you think Tennessee should have taken?
I think that they'll start Locker and he'll be adequate. I think they should have taken Fairley, who will have a greater role in the immediate, and if he's kept in check, could be a perennial pro bowler.

Tennessee and Atlanta both made mistakes early, too.
I did think Nick Fairley would go to Tennessee, and I thought Atlanta would stay there and pick defense.
