Yeah, I agree, I just think that they are like zeroed out on talent right now. Even celler dwellers like the Jaguars have some good talent on their teams. But I just can't really point to a Lions defender that had a level that can be considered good on a league wide scale. Sure, Suh had an okay year and Fairley didn't play too badly, but I can't say anyone else looked good.
I agree the offense was really frustrating considering the firepower they should have, but that defense needs an overhaul badly.
yeah i agree....don't underestimate the value of delmas being out though...hes the poor mans bob sanders lol.....tulloch is so small he just gets lost in the line on run plays....we need a linebacker with leadership...i think that should be the main goal out of this draft....also avril is a good rusher...hes just not great...what he needs is a guy on the other side to take some attention off him and he could have around 12 sacks a year....but KVB is not the guy lol

If you get Te'o, prepare to be disappointed. I don't like him at all in the NFL anymore. Consistently takes bad angles. I think you could like Dee Milliner, and someone like Jarvis Jones is a possibility, but he's too small to play DE in that 4-3. Tough.
Te'o's not going in the top 10 anymore after that championship game. I still think Moore/Werner/Jones/Jordan is the way to go, unless Joeckel inexplicably drops. Milliner is still a reach at 5.

I think further investing in that DL is a mistake at this point. They won't create different results. They're already there as far as talent in the trenches. They need better coaches.
I was actually thinking Te'o in the 2nd round, which is where I think he ends up. He's going to come back to earth, and once people realize that he's not even the best ILB in this draft, he's going to end up late 1st/early 2nd. I'm personally not sure I'd even take him there. Milliner might be a slight reach at 5, but there's a major drop from him to Banks.
One thing though that I think is much more important, is the amount of trading that could happen in the top 10 this year. Lots last year, maybe the same this year. There are a few teams that think they dramatically underperformed, and would be interested in trading back. I think the Lions are one of those teams. Milliner at 9? Maybe much more enticing.
If they trade back, Milliner is absolutely the guy. But DE still makes a lot of sense because Avril and Vanden Bosch suck up a ton of cap space to be mediocre. Taking a shot at getting a good pass rusher at a cheaper cap hit is a good idea. They need a safety more than a corner at this point but they'll have to wait for that.
