i have never understood how running up the score in professional sports is showing disrespect.. these people are being paid millions upon millions of dollars to play a game..they should play it to their full potential.. i can understand if its 10 year old little league kids and not wanting to hurt there little feelings but imo if your a professional you play your best all the time period, if the other team doesnt like it then they can prepare to get better
Plus they didn't run up the score. The starting Defense was out of the game at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Chris Johnsons 80 yard run was against all backups. The Bears could have kicked two easy 4th quarter field goals but just ran the ball on 4th and 9 both times.
If the issue is with the Bears scoring so much, the Bears causing turnovers in Titans territory over and over again will cause that. What are they supposed to do, start taking a knee in the third quarter? As good as the Bears defense has been, their offense has shown much need for improvement still. and is there more of a perfect time to start doing some things to try and get the offense in sync?
Lol teams score 50+ in college all of the time and people never talk about them "running up the score".. What was the score of the CU/oregon game?? 70-14??
I couldn't disagree more, and you are the ONLY person who has mentioned this.
I still stand by it about 80%. That was between Marshall's 3rd TD pass and Johnson's touchdown. Just don't consider it good sportsmanship.
I just would have had Campbell in there by the 4th quarter, not given any one any playing time until they were in a 3 touchdown range. I feel a lot better about how they played the game now than I did yesterday, though, that's what I'm trying to say.

Difference between that and the NFL is the ranking system, so blowing out your opponents like Oregon does every week works towards their advantage in the BCS. I think that's permissible, because there's a difference in the team's season by running up the score and not running up the score. The NFL doesn't work that way.
Not good sportsmanship? You kidding me? Didn't the eagles come back from down four touchdowns in the forth quarter a couple years ago? Its not worth the risk to lay over because you don't wont to hurt the other teams feelings.
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!

That almost happened to the Bears vs the Eagles also a couple years ago. The Bears were blowing Philly out and took their foot off the gas and Philly almost came back and won.

Every team that that happens to isn't because they took their starters out, it's because they got their game plan cracked in the 4th quarter.
It's happened before, but a team that had only scored 4 FG until Johnson's fluke 80 yard TD wasn't about to suddenly put up 54 points. Come on now.
again, what are they supposed to do, take a knee in the 3rd quarter? The offense has been criticized all year for not really being in sync. They did some things in that game that may go a long way in rectifying that and getting the offense going in the right direction with some tougher teams coming up on the schedule. If that hurt some feelings, but it winds up making the offense better, I will take the trade off.

I specifically said that they could keep the pedal down if they wanted, but they just should have put Campbell in and stopped going for the head shot every chance they could.
Sorry if my definition of good sportsmanship goes a little further than all of yours.
