News: Voters approve new stadium in California’s Great America parking lotPosted Thursday, June 10th, 2010 at 1:35 am by Leo C In Santa Clara on Tuesday voters had approved a plan to build a new stadium for the San Francisco49ers football team. Measure J was approved by 59.5 percent of the voters. The plan brings along with it a locked in $114 million contribution from the public.
The proposed site for the team’s new stadium would be the parking lot of California’s Great America theme park. There are still major hurtles for the project to clear such as financing and a legal battle with California Great America owner Cedar Fair. Cedar Fair alleges the team and the city of Santa Clara have not met their obligations in addressing the potential of land lease violations and how operations would be affected by the proposed 68,500 seat $937 million stadium.
Beyond the issues with Cedar Fair it is projected the 49ers will have a tough time financing the construction of the stadium. The team is seeking near $500 million in financing. The NFL is suggesting the 49ers discuss the possibilities of sharing a new stadium with the Oakland Raiders.
Recent new stadiums such as in New York and in Texas have not been able to sell stadium naming rights. Naming rights funds are included in the 49ers’ plans of financing the construction of the new stadium. It is projected that the team will still have to bridge a gap of $330 million in funding for construction.
Candlestick Park, the current home of the 49ers in San Francisco, is determined to be one of the most outdated stadiums still in use for NFL play.

Probably.
Only way for it not to be an epic fail is for some other team to step up and be amazing. I don't see it happening, but the Cardinals still will be contending.

ESPN claims they're supplanting the Patriots as the most hated NFL team. Won't ever happen for me, but fuck do I hate the Jets.

I say just build another stadium near Pac Bell and everyone would be happy.
The Teams I "hate" the most are in this order:
1. Redskins
1. Giants
1. Eagles
2. Steelers
3. 49ers
I don't care for the Patriots because of the cheating but I wouldn't call it hate.
Why?
We've been America's underdog team for a while...
I'm glad they have stunk it up for years.
Jealousy lol.
They'll be good again, it's just a matter of now or later...
