I still think if Vance becomes available they jump on him considering what they went through to try to get him already. They could still retain Wade and do a sort of co-coordinator role while Vance adjusts from position coach to coordinator. Reports were that the change to 3-4 was coming regardless of who they hired.

This is silly. Wade Phillips isn't a scrub. He's an excellent defensive coordinator. They're not going to dump him after one year to go after an unknown quantity.
