David Guetta is hated among electronic music fans and is notorious for just pressing play on one of his tracks and putting his hands in the air. There's guys like Laidback Luke who will do 3 shows in the same region in a week, and each set will have its own flavor and sound. Go watch Avicii two nights in a row during one of his big tours and you'll likely get a very similar set and tracklist.
The great DJs have additional equipment, and do live remixing manipulations, like cutting the lows and filtering out the drums and bringing in a custom drum beat from their controller (Carl Cox is really good at this). Not all the top DJs spin this way though, and is a huge reason why DJs in general get ripped on.
Goes in one ear and out the other with metalheads. Just wasting text space.
RT!
But if you bum ass niggas must know, check out Big Gigantic. Live Drummer and Sax player. Yes it's EDM. Bassnectar has no live musicians like that, but puts work in the entire set on the mixes, to where you won't hear exactly what he does live at home. He adds a lot of shit and stays on the tables the entire time.
And Metal is. As generic as EDM supposedly is, I wasn't aware how much more original blast beats on blast beats wit nonstop tremolo picking was. Can't forget the Christ bashing growls.

Need video confirmation cuz I'm with Slap. I love raving, but in my experience, the DJ usually just let's the music do the work
My buddy would be a good dj. He has an app on his iPad and he just goes to town on beats on it. It's actually good but still Maynard >
I just wanna learn what sacrifices all these edm artists had to make to get their mac's
