There are enough Xbox fanboys to keep then afloat at least for a while.
Actually even the fanboys are starting to flock away from the new Xbox and wanting to get PS4's and Wii-U's as their second console. That's how bad it's gotten.

Very true, I was hardcore Xbox at the beginning of this cycle and i will never own an Xbox One. PS4 is the only gaming console that will be left.
Another problem for MS is Privacy Rights groups have them in their cross hairs over the always on camera and microphone. one slip and they could find them selves with a multi-billion class action lawsuit.
well papa johns got slapped with 250 million for sending people text msg's.
It's not all that far of a stretch considering MS will (presumably) have millions of camera's and microphones that are always on (you can use voice commands to start the console when its off, it really is ALWAYS on) in houses all over the country feeding data to MS server's.
MS has already been accused of Skype spying, what could possibly go wrong with all that data?
Edit unrelated: MS got a patent at the same time as the bought Skype that allows the silent recording of communications. MS has also redesigned Skype to more easily tapped into by law enforcement and for all we know this applies to the always on microphone as well.

Companies have access to sensitive information and privacy breaking capabilities all the time. Pretty much every technology company has more information than you want them to have. Although it's a really creepy thing to need if you're a customer, it's not like it's the first time a company's had access to this sort of stuff.

No. If anything, my living room is exactly where I want them. You know where I don't want them? Everywhere that we trust Google. Gmail, Google Search, Google Finance, Google Maps has the capability of doing so much more than this does, but we don't have a privacy problem with Google.
Facebook isn't a problem because it is spying on people, it's a problem because it's easy for anyone to do it, including the US Government. It's just a database that we use so much that it's useful for spying, Assange wasn't saying that Facebook actually spies on people.
Big brother isn't always watching you. Because, let's be honest, they don't care what we do every day. They care what we do sometimes, sure, but they don't care about our living rooms or who's profile pictures we like.

Julian Assange said facebook was the most appalling spy machine ever created but i think Xbox One is giving them a run for their money
