"Count me in," Jackson said in a statement. "After a couple weeks of deliberation, it is time to get back to the challenge of putting together a team that can defend its title in the 2010-11 season. It'll be the last stand for me, and I hope a grand one."
The Memphis Grizzlies and restricted free-agent Rudy Gay have agreed in principle on a five-year contract. Multiple NBA sources indicated that Gay will sign the deal on or soon after July 8 when teams are allowed to finalize contracts.
Gay's starting salary will be the maximum allowed a player with his experience - projected to be roughly $13.3 million - according to sources.
Gay, 23, was supposed to visit the Minnesota Timberwolves this afternoon but canceled the trip. The 6-8 forward will not visit any potential suitors.
Joe Johnson accepts the max deal. Also, don't expect a decision from LeBron until late next week. It seems D-Wade is leaning towards Chicago a little more now.
-Amare Stoudamire has been offered a 5-year, $100 million contract by the Knicks. -Paul Pierce (4 years, $61 mill) and Dirk Nowitzki (4 years, $80 mill, no trade clause) have re-signed with their respective teams.
Anyway, does anyone think it's stupid that teams have to wait until July 8 to sign a player officially? a week after free agency begins? they need to take a page from the nhl and do i correctly.

He's done.
Never had it to begin with, just a ball hog scorer that did absolutely nothing for his team, just like iverson
Of course championships are better but at least I was entertained during the losing seasons.
Joe Johnson is staying with Atlanta.
