My brother got me Machine Head- The Blackening and The Black Dahlia Murder- Miasma for Christmas. My dad has a bunch of old vinyls of Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath I am looking to get those from him.

I've got thousands of vinyls. yeah, some of them were our older brother and sisters' or parents' records but I've got almost complete catalogs of the classic rock bands. I used to haunt the 3 used record stores that were on my way home from school daily. I've got them on 33, 45, 78 and 16 rpm. although I can't find a player for the 16's. my latest acquisition is the Quadrophenia box set I got from Santa yesterday. still trying to find Green Naugahyde release of the vinyl & CD together.
vinyl quality can depend greatly on the album itself, the player (especially the speakers), the production quality of the recording, even what kind of needle you use. digital recordings sometimes cut out a lot of the quality in consideration of download space and time.
i have about 3000 vinyls in storage. the most interesting to people on this site are probably my entire collections of death and mastodon original pressings. i have every slayer except 'world painted blood' and 'christ illusion'. i have tons of autographed albums and rare shit. i've seen my original autographed promo pressing of tool's 'aenima' go for as much as $500 on ebay. i have other rare signed stuff by GWAR, lemmy, and the original sepultura lineup.
you'd prolly dig my non-metal stuff a lot. i have tons of old punk rock like the stooges and richard hell. i have a few bob dylan and 'alice' and 'rain dogs' by tom waits. i also have a ton of rare old school hip hop...and both sublime albums on picture disc.

I believe i have a little over a thousand records in storage as well. plus about 100 at the house. My most prized is a mint condition of Whitesnake- Slide It In signed by the whole band.
I just started collecting vinyl earlier this year so it's a fairly small collection still. I've gotten some from my mom (the Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd ones) but the rest are mine. I think my most "prized" ones are Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Heaven and Hell. They were both 3 bucks and in great condition, so to find them that cheap was really cool. \m/
