so j/w how many people on here have attempted it and failed/accomplished quitting.......iv been smoking 9 years and have tried a bunch of time....im on just over 96 hours now the longest iv made it since i quit for about 6 months like 6 years ago

Rex, i wish you luck. I've attempted to quit a few times. The longerst I've been able to do is 4 months. I've tried a couple of more times since my heart attack and have been unsuccessful. I used the patches and they seemed to work until it was time to step down a level. What method are you using?

i just quit cold turkey...and its a bitch but im making it so far lol....but i haven't drank yet

I never picked up the habit but I have a bunch of friends that smoke cigarettes...

My advice is don't cave into smoking a cigarette when you are drunk. I've had a bunch of friends that attempted to quit and them getting drunk always seems to be their downfall. Because everyone I know always says cigarettes are a lot better when you are drunk. So they will smoke 1 or 6 cigarettes when they are drunk then the next day rolls around and they are still smoking.

I quit when I was 15 or so. Picked up a serious habit of it when I was 14 or so, knew I was killing myself, so stopped.

I weaned myself off, but going from 1 to 0 was hard as fuck.

thats awesome you quit so soon...the younger you start and the longer you smoke makes it harder to quit

Rex, all the doctors that have yelled at me for smoking say that cold turkey is the way to go. Higher success rate. The drinking ALWAYS caused me problems. Stick with it.

yeah my mom suffers from congestive heart failure and what not.....and im afraid of heart attack's and strokes so i really wanna do it this time...we will see i haven't had a strong pheen yet lol...well actually i guess i have but when it happens i just smoke a bowl

My dad quit cold for like 7 years..then my parents got divorced and he started again...Then he quit cold once again, and then he started again after a year...Lol this is his third time quitting and it's about 2 years now.

Never smoked a cigg..have a black and mild though, not my thing.

I tried quitting last year..made it about 3 months and then went to a show, drank next thing i know i had a pack of cigs in my pocket...

thats not my only attempt...but i was doing it cold turkey.

Good luck man hopefully you are not weak willed and can hold off on them.

just think of The Weak Willed by All that remains when you feel like having a cig.

i smoked since i was 18. I was up to atleast a pack a day. I quit oct. 3, 2008. I got really sick and used it to my advantage to stop smoking. I could not take more than two drags with out having a coughing fit. I was already sick so I just added nicotine withdrawls on top of it. It luv you Day quill!

good luck man. i manages to quit cold turkey before with nothing, but ended up smoking again until the last time i got sick.
