Imagine home insurance not covering something that fucked your house up.
There isn't an insurance company in the world that's going to cover a flood unless you have specific flood insurance.
The reason it's excluded is because if you were paying for it, you would never use it. Its to help keep your premium lower. If you home is in a spot that is more likely.to have a flood your bank will require coverage.
Home insurance should be used for 2 things in my opinion. 1. Major fire 2. Major storm.
You should not be filing any claim for 2 or 3k either. Keep your deductible at 5k, and fix the little bullshit yourself. Will keep your premium low over time.
If you live in a castrophy area and are worried about a flood you should have flood insurance.
A ton of those people had their roofs replaced. I spoke to them every day on the phone for the last 6 months. Any water damage from that is going to be covered.

you: okay
*something really bad happens*
you: hey something really bad just happened
insurance company: Yeah we actually don’t cover that
But it's on you if you picked a shitty agent and something happens you thought would be covered and it isn't.
You can cover your home for flood. Your homeowners policy will not cover it, and thats been common knowledge for decades.
I'm just saying find a good agent.
