That's weird. Normally you would get licensed in the state you live in, and then apply for a non resident license where you work.
It's not as simple as showing up and passing a test. You should be studying it for probably 30 days at least.
You don't have to be a genius, but they try to trick you with the questions.
Typically you also have to take it with a proxy watching you on Webcam. Depending on state.
But something like 50% of people fail it the first time they take it.
