that list is trash. Drake a top tier rapper? these people complaining that "mumble rap" is killing hip can't even see that they think a pop singer is one of the best rappers in the game smh, fucking sheep
Having kids has changed my life in a ton of ways. Like most parents my biggest fear is something bad happening to my child. I'm not the type of person that cries over things but dammit watching this video during lunch had my eyes watering.
Why? You guys have file sharing. Before, you were at the mercy of the tastes of your friends
I like physical. and I think it woulda been cool to pull into a parking lot with some dudes, everyone pulls out a box, and is like "check these fuckers from florida out. Scream Bloody Gore. Its heavy as fuck". And then you hear something new and it blows your mind.
I honestly wish I could go back to when I discovered music in general. I dont think I'll have experience that feeling of finding something new and amazing, that Ive never heard before, and having my mind blown ever again.
Kinda. I liked to get jobs at record stores from as early as I could drive. I used to get a lot of promos for cool shit. I still have the cassette from Deftones first promo somewhere. I used to have boxes of stuff from bands that never made it. I was a lot more motivated than a lot of my friends. Being in the south, a lot of people were just into southern rock, blues, country, stuff like that. I knew a few people that were into metal, hardcore and indie stuff. I soaked everything I could up like a sponge. It was still hard to find new shit though. The depth of a lot of people's knowledge was unpopular albums by popular acts. Stuff like Gwar and Misfits were really hard to get a copy of. My cousins dated black guys, so through them I got stuff like EPMD, NWA and Luke Skywalker. There were tons of artists I knew names of but had never actually heard until file sharing became a thing

It's just that this sort of scenario happened very little. Every now and again Id have a friend who's older cousin had copies of 'Kill Em All' or Danzig 1. Lol I used to buy condoms for this one guy so he would give me copies of his Megadeth tapes because he was scared to do it himself
Honestly, I found most of my new stuff back in the day by listening to college radio. Georgia Tech's WREK has a show called WREKage radio where they play extreme metal. I went from being the kid calling every 30 minutes with an obscure request to one of the guest DJs when I got older

What album made the most impact on you first listen?
