I'll agree that the corpse paint and stuff can get pretty fucking cheesy but I like a lot of the imagery associated with black metal and doom metal. Satanic/pagan shit is kinda cool, but I really like all the death shit, forests and nature. It's all very human

Thrash and death are probably my favorites. I can find bands from all of the genres mentioned that I'd enjoy listening too.
