Well more or less what I get is that once he found out his real dad was crazy, and that he's the product of two crazy people, he did the math and tried getting rid of wilfred. And he had/would have succeeded but he realize talking to his sister he felt like shit being "better" without out him and would rather be crazy with a best friend.
