It's especially hilarious when no one on here even lifts, especially not to the caliber that I do, but yet we clearly have experts on here. It's the best when Leah tries to add shit in. Someone who never leaves the house for anything, let alone something that takes as much effort as the gym, knows ALLLL about gyms. 8-|

I think people just like to argue with you because it's you, and it was fun to do about 3 years ago because of some of the dumb shit you used to say. Old habits die hard for some. I swear of you say the sky was blue today, there would be still be 10 or more posts about the clouds in the sky, and that the blue color is actually just an illusion caused by sunlight and moisture in the atmosphere, and maybe a sunset photo and a pic of the moon just because.
I dont bag Erik, I was simply pointing out that there's no need to be throwing weights around

There is a big difference between dropping weights and throwing them around like a jackass. People bitch about both. Some lifts are not worth the possible damage by setting it all the way down. You also have to consider that both Erik and I are at a disadvantage compared to you when it comes to the mechanics of body structure, leverage, and overall greater range of motion due to height. I'll fuck up a weight bar before I fuck up my back 11 times out of 10.
By "dropping" are you and Erik talking about letting the bar roll off you back during a squat....or a controlled thump onto the floor at the bottom of a deadlift
I have no issue with the second. The first should only happen if you are going for a PB or max and fail, and even then I have only seen it happen very rarely
The link you posted says... So how often should a person drop their weights? There are only a few lifts that put a person in a position where they may need to drop weights:
Dumbbell bench press and overhead press Barbell or dumbbell dead lifts and clean and jerk While some additional exercises may be added to this short list, these are the main exercises where dropping the weight is normal - when you are training at or near maximum.
Dropping a squat is for the bathroom, not the gym.
OHP, and deads from below the knees in a controlled manner, that's it for me. I don't go heavier than I can bench without a spotter, so that hasn't been an issue yet.

Three of us were spotting in a comp one day. One on each side and one behind the lifter doing a squat. Old guy was squatting 140kg/300kg and got Out of the groove and couldn't quite lift it. So he just stepped forward and let the bar roll off his back. Three of us caught the weight from shoulder height. Fun
