so are you now my go to guy for college algebra help?
lol. errrr... dont know how much help I can be. I think the secret to algebra/calculus is just doing problems. skim the chapters, listen in class, and then do every problem in the book they give you answers for in the back. If you do all the chapter problems, you'll get an easy A.

im working with direct variation now and cant make shit of it
isn't that with graphs and such? I'd have to refresh my memory. like y=6x? then you just plug in values for x and see what y looks like. x=0, y=0; x=6, y=26; x=-6, y=-36; then draw a line between them.... isnt that was that is?

direct variation is like blahblah varies inversely with blahblahblah
Q. Suppose y varies directly as x, and y = 20 when x = 4. Find y when x = 9.
A. Since it varies directly to x you know
y=kx
20=k(4)
k=20/4=5
so when x=9
y=(5)(9)=45
QED.
