Lil B makes music from the heart, babymetal is shitty pop metal marketed for weeaboos. Kill yourself

You dont think those girls love their job, and love performing? Sure its commercial pop written stuff, but they have a lot of real talented metal musicians working the band, and the girls have obviously developed a respect and love for the genre.

Mf Doom is like 50. "Underground hip hop" is a joke of a term now. Every time something pops up from the underground, it immediately succumbs to the mainstream bloodletting

    Case in point

Yeah the kind of shit that's actually "underground" by your standards is often labeled alternative hip-hop.

I've been digging this kinda stuff lately. Dunno whether to call it hiphop or jazz, but I like it.

    Indulge me. What is underground?

The vanguard of "underground hip hop" to me is Kool Keith, but nobody else here seems to even know who he is, much less know his material

when i'm talking about the underground, I'm talking about the artists that set the trends for specifically this decade under the radio's radar, and generally with the youth, since I was like 17 when I started really paying attention. the cloudy and atmospheric stuff was pioneer by artists like Lil B, Main Attrakionz, and Clams Casino. Then there's all the shit that is pretty much just Three 6 Mafia worship. That school was pioneered by Spaceghostpurrp and his crew, Raider Klan. That really birthed a revival in Miami, it's become the second hottest hotbed for hip-hop imo. From Raider Klvn, a shit ton of artists formed their own successful careers and Spaceghostpurrp is already washed up. Chief Keef is also a key figure, he fathered all the really ignorant shit out there like Famous Dex. Of course artists like Drake, Future, and Kanye West are inspiring a lot of these young rappers. Also this doesn't apply to all new rappers, but I think it definitely applies to most that were born in and after the mid-90's, and definitely all rappers who built their fanbase on soundcloud.

The stuff you're mentioning is the rap equivalent to deathcore. Just because young people give a shit about it doesn't make it underground. It just means their fans are too ignorant to have developed tastes

Three 6 Mafia is hot garbage and always has been. They did songs with ICP...

yeah I'm coming to terms with that. the last few shows I've gone to weren't really enjoyable because I can't stand the crowd. I had a co-worker who listened to the same artists, he was a fucking dipshit. really made me realize the kind of people I'm associating with when I listen to that a lot of that shit. that's why I've recently been getting back on my metal shit, listening mostly to black metal recently. I'm not gonna act like I don't like a lot of the music, but the people who make it and the people who listen to it aren't my people. that's why I've always liked Antown, Cities Aviv, and Lil Ugly Mane, they grew up in hardcore and metal.

Why not just enjoy what you like instead of following (or going against a crowd)? You're allowing others to dictate what you like by turning away because of their fan base. Your taste changing is one thing but it's a bit odd to me to just stomp enjoying something because you don't want to associate with the crowd.
