I always thought Halo would be a perfect way to start a Machine Head show.

Blind is a badass opener to a show. But the thread should be changed from best metal song to best opening song in general. Then I'd have to go with a cold day in hell by winds of plague leading into anthems of the apocolypse. My other choice and I hate this band now but back in the day went to an atreyu show and they cut all the lights and had blood children playing over the speakers and imediately went into bleeding mascara. And the venue fucking exploded when that happened.

yep i almost ordered that 3 day concert on PPV, but it was i think 60 bucks. yep, they showed the full festival too. Thats exactly the time when i was really into Nu Metal too

Slipknot - Intro/Sic. Thats always been one of my faves live.

I think songs that start off melodic or slow at first make excellent openers in general

I think Passing/Dead Seeds would be great because its something slow to get everyone excited for the show, but then they start the show with one of the most balls out awesome songs off the new record and the entire place comes down.

I'm willing to bet Chimaira will open with The Venom Inside.
